Four deserving Westminster Village – Dover staff members received $1,000 scholarships from the Florence Nightingale Scholarship Fund last year. This scholarship fund was started with a generous donation by the now-deceased resident, Dr. Elizabeth Lloyd, who wanted to make sure that employees of WVD could pursue nursing education if desired. A champion of higher education, Dr. Lloyd held faculty positions at Washington University and the University of Delaware. Later, she became Director of the Department of Teacher Education and Professional Standards for the Delaware State Department of Public Instruction. Liz was a true humanitarian and believed in sharing her gifts of voluntary service and philanthropy with others, including Westminster Village which benefited by her generosity in other ways as well.
