Westminster Village in Dover Retirement Community

An Open Letter

Dear Friends:

I am writing to express our deep regard to Westminster Village and the many ways that it has assisted our congregation over the years.

Seven years ago, the Village extended an invitation to our young congregation to bring Sunday Morning Worship Service to your campus and enjoy the hospitality that its beautiful Community Center offered.  Since that time we have come to appreciate a unique partnership that allows us the privilege of offering spiritual services to the campus while enjoying the fellowship of some of the greatest seniors a congregation could ever wish to have.  Sunday morning is now witness to seniors extending warm hugs to our children and teens who benefit greatly from a relationship that is not only social but also spiritual in nature.  Those who wish it are brought over in wheelchairs from the Health Center while Independent Living residents stroll in or take advantage of the golf cart we provide for those who have trouble ambulating.  A few moments after the worship service begins, one of our elders slips out the door making his way to the Assisted Living building to conduct a Sunday morning Bible study with them.

What church could be more privileged? We meet in beautiful surroundings provided by the generosity of Westminster Village, we are allowed ministry to wonderful people whose lives encourage and strengthen our own, and we are provided intergenerational experience that enriches our people as nothing else could.

And so, we want to express our gratitude for Westminster Village and its forward-thinking administration.  It is due to their vision and foresight that we have the privilege of partnering with them to meet spiritual and social needs of their residents.  We thank our God for placing us among those who recognize that our seniors are worth the risk of attempting something new and in the process bringing wonderful blessings to Christ’s church.

Our prayer is that God will greatly increase His blessings to Westminster Village so that their ministry of compassionate care can continue for many years to come.

In Joyful Service,
Rev. Kenneth Brown, Pastor
